Blogging has been prominent in the corporate arena for a while now, and it’s still one of the central ways of building authority and thought leadership. But with the times and technologies we use are changing so rapidly, we may find our old blog posts becoming obsolete. Besides, many blogs that were posted before Google cracked down on keyword stuffing maybe full of bad content and not doing you any favours.

If you’re still trying to do internet marketing with your old SEO website, it might be due for some optimization.Older blogs could even have some value for your SEO, but not if you leave them as they are. Here’s what you should do with them:

Sort and Assess

Depending on your SEO website, sorting and taking inventory of your content may or may not be an easy task. However,it’s going to be necessary for deciding what to keep and what to get rid of.Gather all your URLs, your metadata for each blog, and dig into the material.

You’ll be judging it on several criteria, and you likely already use most of them when creating new content. Of course, you want the content to help the end user while improving your websiterise through the ranks on Google. To accomplish this, content should still be relevant. It is why you’ll be assessing the SEO optimization and the contents of the post first. If those are good, or only need small improvements, focus on the writing itself – the flow, the tone, grammar and everything else that goes with it.

Once you do decide which ones you’ll keep, make sure that those you don’t will be redirecting the visitor to the homepage or any other related blog post that you do decide to keep.

Improve the Ones You Keep

It’s doubtful that your old content won’t need any fixing or improving. Some information may be obsolete, or its targeting may be slightly off. As efficient internet marketing is your end goal, you’ll be looking to either update or expand your old content to ensure that it still provides the best possible information for the users. Don’t neglect visual optimization, either – make sure your material looks updated as well.

Once you’ve updated your blog posts, don’t hesitate to share them again through your social channels. Tell your audience about the update and invite them to discuss it. Then sit back and monitor the results. If your organic traffic and rankings improve, you’ll know that you did a great job.

It’s critical to keep your SEO website updated, as old and unoptimized content could bring your overall rankings down, especially if it doesn’t fit the SEO standards of today. However, even though SEO is a great way to raise your website’s rank, it’s not the fastest strategy out there. It’s a journey, not a race, which means it might take a few months for you to see the results of your website optimization efforts.

Don’t hesitate to contact me if you wish to see your efforts come to fruition more quickly. I’ll be happy to discuss your marketing strategy with you and help in any way I can.
